A few words about Herbie-Oke from the man himself...

“Herbie-oke” (Interactive partying cover tunes) 

Hi Everyone!!! If you want to hire me for a party, listen to this!!! I have been 
saving the songs I love for the past 30 years. These songs range from oldies to 
classic rock to country to jazz standards to children’s songs, and even songs from 
TV, broadway shows, and movies! For years and years now, whenever I bring my guitar 
to a party, we all have a blast singing the songs we cherish and remember. People 
are very passionate about the music they love. Hearing an old song can bring you 
back to where you were at the time, who you were with, and what you were doing. You 
can even still taste those tastes and smell those smells from those unforgettable 
moments. 

Recently I have seen the resurgence in “piano bars”. People love to listen and sing. 
The trouble is, they are usually grasping for the words. You can see that they’re 
dying to sing the song but they don’t know the words. The piano players have music 
and lyrics 1/16 of an inch tall, and you have to read music to follow. That leaves 
most people out. I have also watched the rise in popularity of karaoke and people are 
having a lot of fun with that also. That format however offers little flexibility in 
keys and no onstage help. When you’re up there and the song starts, that’s it. If the 
key is too high, oh well. Most of us cannot sing in a high register. The older you get 
the harder the high notes become. 

Based on all of my above observations, I have put together a new concept in live 
entertainment. I call it “Herbie-oke”. I have taken over 400 songs, put them in 
lower keys (so average singers can sing them), and blown up the words to fit a 
whole page in an easy to follow format! I have created a list of the songs so people 
can easily pick their favorites, then fill out a short form with their choice. They can 
ask for 1. Me to sing the song, 2. Sing a duet with me, or 3. They can sing it themselves 
(or in a group) while I play it. I can help them if they stumble while they are up there! 
If it’s a bad choice we know right away and we can change it. People are thoroughly 
enjoying actually singing with a live guitar, a foray into real music. Their friends and 
family are enjoying watching them, and there are songs for every age group! 

This will be the fun that will put your party “over the top” and have people 
remembering your event forever!!
